Source citations for AI answers
Atlas can attach source links to its answers so members see exactly which approved knowledge-base material an answer came from.
What source citations are
When Atlas answers from your knowledge base, it can attach source links to the reply - small references pointing at the approved material the answer was drawn from. Members can follow the link to read the original doc, and your staff can see at a glance why Atlas said what it said.
Why grounded answers matter
An answer with a visible source is easy to trust and easy to correct. If a citation points at an outdated page, you fix the page - and every future answer built on it improves too. Citations also make it obvious when Atlas is drawing on your approved content rather than general knowledge.
Turning citations on
- Open the dashboard and go to Configuration > AI > Knowledge base for the server you want to change.
- Enable source links in the answer settings. The setting is per server, so communities with different tones can make different choices.
- Save - new Atlas answers from knowledge-base material will include their sources.
What members see
Citations render as a compact reference under the answer - enough to verify, not enough to clutter the conversation. Answers that come purely from conversation context (with no knowledge-base match) simply have no citation to show.
Citations pair naturally with knowledge-base sources and with confidence-based handoff: well-sourced answers ship, uncertain ones go to a human.
